Sony Alpha/ Minolta: The flash unit fits on
automatically. To remove the flash from the camera
press the release button at the backside of the flash
shoe and slide the flash towards the back of the
camera.
Auto Focus Infrared Illumination
The DÖRR DAF-34 is equipped with an auto focus
infrared illumination. Under poor light conditions it
is possible that the available object contrast is not
sufficient for auto focus. In these cases the auto
focus infrared illumination of the flash is activated
by slightly pressing the shutter release button. The illumination
assists the auto focus of your camera to recognize structures and
contrasts even in the darkest room. The auto focus illumination
range is from 1 to 5m/3.3 to 16.4 feet. If your camera system also
boasts of an auto focus illumination, the camera’s illumination
has first priority.
In order to ensure proper function of the auto focus illumination,
make sure that the camera is switched to „single frame“.
The camera’s auto focus program mode, if available, should be
set to focus priority. For some cameras only the middle focusing
frame may be activated. Please review your camera’s instruction
manual for more detailed information.
Exposure Control Display (AUTO OK)
The DÖRR DAF-34 is equipped with an exposure control display
AUTO OK which will confirm wether the correct illumination of
your object has been achieved or wether the photo should
be repeated with a shorter distance. If the illumination was
sufficient the OK display will light up green for approximately
2 seconds.
Zoom Flash Head
Lenses with different focal lengths will produce different angles
of view. For example: a 28 mm wide angle lens will provide a
larger angle of view than a 85 mm telephoto lens. The DÖRR
DAF-34 offers a zoom flash head which allows for adapting the
angle of illumination of the flash unit to the angle of view of your
lens by extending the flash head to correspond to the proper local
length of your lens (28, 35, 50 or 85 mm). These focal lengths are
engraved on the upper side of the zoom head. Remember that
the flash range will also be affected by the focal length and film
speed. Please consult the exposure chart on the back of the flash
unit.
