CAUTION!
• To avoid DEF spillage and overfilling, do not “top off” the DEF tank after filling.
• When DEF is spilled, clean the area immediately with water or a mild solvent.
• DO NOT OVERFILL. DEF will freeze below 12 degrees F (-11 degrees C). The
DEF system is designed to work in temperatures below the DEF freezing point,
however, if the tank is overfilled and freezes, the system could be damaged.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Messages
“Low Level DEF Indication” — The warning system will be activated according
following cases:
• At about 35% of DEF tank (corresponding to a driving range of about 1500 miles)
in advance to the Diesel Exhaust fluid tank becoming empty: warning to the driver
at each key-on with "DEF lamp + EVIC m buzzer"
• At about 25% of DEF tank: warning to the driver at each key-on then at three
established fixed intervals with "DEF lamp + EVIC m buzzer"
• At about 20% of DEF tank: continuous warning to the driver with "DEF lamp +
EVIC m buzzer"
• At about 15% of DEF tank: warning to the driver at the first key-on with "DEF lamp
+ EVIC m buzzer" and the engine speed is limited to 5 mph (8 km/h).
