IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
NOTICE
•
Competent and regular preventative maintenance is essential to the operational reliability of the liftgate as well as the safety of the
operator and all bystanders.
•
All maintenance and repair work must be performed by authorized DHOLLANDIA service agents and using original DHOLLANDIA
replacement parts only.
•
Please consult the separate MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR MANUAL for specific instructions regarding periodic maintenance.
•
If a liftgate cannot be repaired immediately in case of breakdown, it must be put out of operation and secured against unauthorized
use.
•
A liftgate put into its travel position with the help of external devices (forklift, gantry crane), is not supported by its hydraulic cylinders.
After releasing the mechanical platform lock, the platform and lifting mechanism will drop in free fall, without any possibility to stop
the fall by means of the regular controls.
•
Note: examples of additional means are additional securing of the platform lock (if available), or securing the platform by means of
ratchet straps, hoists, etc.
•
To re-open the liftgate, use again an external device (forklift, gantry crane) for additional support. Or repair the breakdown first, bring
the hydraulic system under pressure, and release the platform locks after satisfactory testing of the hydraulic integrity. Follow the
MAINTENANCE MANUAL for all maintenance and repair works.
WARNING
Impact by a falling platform will result in serious bodily injury or death. To reduce the risk of injury:
→
Close the platform lock (if available) and apply additional means to immobilize the platform
[see Note below].
→
Warn your supervisor, have the vehicle put out of service, and contact an authorized
DHOLLANDIA repair agent to repair the liftgate prior to further use.
→
Attach the 'WARNING. LIFTGATE OUT OF SERVICE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPERATE'
sign provided with the liftgate in a clearly visible location. See 10.3 on page 37.
→
If you cannot locate this sign, use an alternate method to signal the hazard clearly.
