Switch
Action
Power On Press power switch in briefly and release. The
S3
Status LED
will alternately flash red and green several times. When the
LED is a solid green, the S3 is ready.
Power On
(reset)
Press power switch in – holding the power switch for at least
20 seconds until the Status LED rapidly flashes off/on, then
release power switch. The
S3
DHCP settings and IP address
are reset to the default state.
WARNING:
S3
is reset to a
DHCP Server. Make sure your unit is not connected to the
network.
Power Off Press power switch in, holding power switch until green light
flashes three times then emits yellow flash. Release the
power switch. The Status LED will blinks several times then
go out.

VEHICLE DLC CONNECTION (multiple module connector)
The multiple module connector links the HS CAN and SW CAN channel as well as an expansion
module (If internally connected to provide access), through a single connector, to an OBD II adapter
cable is required to connect SAE J1962 vehicle connector.

RJ45 Ethernet connector
A null 100-base-T (100
T
) cable is provided with the S3 tool package, for use in a point-to-point
configuration with a PC. This cable connects the tool’s Ethernet port (on the back of the S3 tool) to
the host PC’s Ethernet port. To connect the tool to an Ethernet hub, you will need to use a standard
Ethernet cable instead of the supplied null cable.
NOTE:
Null Ethernet cables are sometimes referred to as “cross over cables.”
