The system board is equipped with a digital audio interface - S/PDIF
(Sony/Philips Digital Interface). S/PDIF is a standard audio file transfer
format that transfers digital audio signals to a device without having
to be conver ted first to an analog format. This prevents the quality
of the audio signal from degrading whenever it is conver ted to
analog.
One card-edge bracket, mounted with 1 S/PDIF-in connector and 1
S/PDIF-out connector, will be provided as an option. Install the card-
edge bracket to the system chassis then connect the appropriate
audio cable connectors to J2 and J5. Make sure pin 1 of the cable
connectors is aligned with pin 1 of J2 and J5. Now connect external
speakers or a device that suppor ts digital output to the S/PDIF-in
and S/PDIF-out connectors for digital audio output.
