Step 3: Configure RAID in the RAID BIOS

Configure RAID in the ULI RAID BIOS

After you power up the system and all drives have been detected,
the ULI RAID BIOS status message screen will appear. Press the
<Ctrl> and <A> keys simultaneously to enter the utility. The utility
allows you to build a RAID system using four Serial ATA hard drives.

Configure RAID in the Sil3114 SataRAID BIOS

When the system powers-up and all drives have been detected, the
Sil3114 SataRAID BIOS status message screen will appear. Press the
<Ctrl-S> or <F4> key to enter the utility. The utility allows you to
build a RAID system using four Serial ATA hard drives.

Step 4: Install the RAID Driver

If you are in the process of installing Windows

®

XP or Windows

®

2000 on RAID configured drives, you will need the provided RAID
driver floppy diskette. If you are installing the driver on existing
Windows

®

XP or Windows

®

2000, install the corresponding RAID

driver that is in the provided CD.

Installing ULI RAID Driver While in the Process of Installing Win-
dows

®

XP or Windows

®

2000

The steps below will instruct you on installing the RAID driver while
in the process of installing Windows

®

XP or Windows

®

2000 on

RAID configured drives.

1. Start Windows Setup by booting from the installation CD.

2. Press <F6> when prompted at the beginning of Windows setup.

3. Press <S> to select “Specify Additional Device”.

4. At this point you will be prompted to insert a floppy disk con-

taining the RAID driver. Insert the provided RAID driver diskette.

5. Locate for the drive where you inserted the diskette then select

“ALI SATA/RAID Controller”. Press <Enter> to install the driver.

6. Now press <S> again to specify another device.
