3.2.1.2 Gated Event Counting
Gated Event Counting is similar to Event Counting except that the counting process is gated. When
Counter
Gate
is active, the counter counts pulses which occur on counter source. When
Counter Gate
is inactive the
counter retains the current count value. At every
Sample Clock
the value is read.
Figure 13 shows an example of Gated Event Counting where the counter counts three events on
Counter
Source
. At

the counter value is zero, because the gate signal is inactive. At sample clock

the actual counter value is read out. At

is typed out.
