Devine recommends to start with -40 dB attenuation. This way, you will start with the least powerful volume
level possible and you can see on your mixing console if the signal is strong enough. If not, you can switch
the attenuation to -20 dB and see if the signal is strong enough, but not overpowering the inputs on your
processing equipment. If this attenuation also won't provide adequate signal levels, the -0 dB attenuation can
be chosen.
Some equipment, such as the power adapters from keyboards, link-connected amplifiers or the pickups of
electric guitars, can cause unwanted noise and hums. To eliminate these problems, a ground lift is available.
The ground lift disconnects the connection between the ground of the balanced signal, the housing and the
ground of the incoming and outgoing input/link signals. If no audio-problems are present, the ground
connection does not need to be lifted.
The balanced output sends out a balanced microphone level signal, suitable for connecting to the
microphone inputs of a PA-mixer, audio interface or other equipment provided with microphone preamp
circuits.
