Roaming
The ability of a portable part to either (A) make transactions within different radio cells of a
single operator's network or (B) make transactions within different radio cells of different oper-
ator's networks. Case (A) is termed intraoperator roaming and case (B) is termed interopera-
tor roaming.
Structured system
In structured systems, groups and classes of base stations are configured to control individual
portable parts' access to specific base stations.
A group can comprise one or several (up to 128) base stations. These groups, in turn, are
assigned to classes. Each class may contain up to four groups.
Unstructured system
An unstructured system may be considered to constitute a special implementation of a struc-
tured system in which all base stations belong to a single group, and this group is assigned
to a single class. All portable parts are granted access to this class and thus to all base
stations. In other words, there is no restriction of portable parts' rights to access base stations
(thus the term unstructured system).
