Wiring
Orange:
Attach to fan positive (+) lead. Attach other
fan motor lead to a good chassis ground.
Red:
Attach to positive (+) battery terminal.
Yellow:
Attach one side to an ignition switched 12-
volt source. Attach other side to either wire lead on
thermostat switch. If this wire is hooked up to a
constant source (like the battery) the fan will continue
to run after the vehicle is shut off and could run down
the battery.
Brown:
Attach to unused wire lead on thermostat
probe.
Green:
Attach to positive (+) wire on air conditioning
clutch. This runs fan whenever the AC is on.
Black:
Attach to a good chassis ground. Do the same with
the ground lead off the fan motor.
Blue:
When using dual fans, attach to second fan
positive (+) lead
Manual Switch Override
The Air conditioning override circuit
(Green wire) can also be used as a manual
override.
Note: You cannot use the
green wire for both AC and manual
override.
If you are not using air conditioning and
want a manual override, see drawing
below for diagram with Derale switch.
Troubleshooting
Fan will not turn on.
2. With ignition on, use a 12-volt test light to check
red and yellow wires for voltage. You must have
voltage for the fan to run.
3. Make sure engine is up to operating
temperature.
4. With ignition on, check temp switch by jumping
across the two wire leads.
5. Check ground for a good connection, sand any
paint for a metal t o metal contact.
Fan runs with ignition off.
1. Check yellow wire, it must be connected to an
ignition switched source.
Fan turns on late or at high temperature.
1. Move probe to another location further from
water inlet.
