Inspecting the PowerVault 130T
1.
Check the outside of the PowerVault 130T for physical damage such as crushed
corners or connectors, bent or scratched panels, or a broken window.
2.
Unlock and open the front door.
3.
Look inside the PowerVault 130T for broken or loose parts.
4. At the rear, unscrew the three thumb screws that fasten the hinged access door. This
door is between the electronics module and the drive slots.
5.
Open the hinged access door.
6. Look inside the PowerVault 130T for broken or loose parts. Use a flashlight if
necessary.
7.
Verify that the serial number of the PowerVault 130T (located on the rear panel)
matches the shipping invoice.
8.
Verify that the following cables and accessories are present:
•
SCSI cables
•
SCSI terminators
•
AC power cables
•
Keys
•
Manuals
•
Documentation CD
•
Tapes
•
Labels
9. Report any damaged, missing, or incorrect items to Dell support.
Connecting the External SCSI Cables
CAUTION: Before connecting the external SCSI cables, make sure that there is
no activity on the SCSI bus; the host must be inactive. All signals must be
terminated at each end of the SCSI bus.
Perform the following steps to connect the external SCSI cables:
Refer to Figure 2-3 for Dell’s recommended two-drive and four-drive configurations.
These instructions are for a two-drive configuration.
1.
Connect one end of the Host to Library SCSI cable to the host system and the other
end of the cable to the SCSI port on the Library electronics module.
