•
Due to the high power consumption of GPUs, the ambient inlet temperature is restricted to 30°C for CPU 150 W/8 C, 165 W/12 C, 200
W, 205 W to ensure adequate cooling when one or more GPU cards are installed. For more information, see the ambient temperature
limitations section.
•
Ensure that the GPU enablement kit is available.
The GPU enablement kit includes:
•
Low profile heat sinks
•
Power cables for the GPU cards
•
Filler brackets with closeout EMI shield for unoccupied PCIe slots
•
All GPU cards must be of the same type and model.
•
You can install up to three double-wide GPU cards.
•
The plastic filler bracket on the GPU air shroud must be removed before installing the GPU card.
•
Ensure that high performance fans and GPU air shroud are installed.
•
Ensure that your system uses the redundant 1100 W power supplies.
NOTE:
When using the system with the Nvidia K80 GPU card, ensure that you install both PSUs with a minimum of 1100
W each and set the PSU configuration to non-redundant mode.

Removing GPU card
Prerequisites
1
Follow the safety guidelines listed in
2
Follow the procedure listed in
Before working inside your system
.
3
Remove the top cover of the GPU air shroud.
Steps
1
Lift the expansion card latch.
2
Close the PCIe card holder latch on the GPU air shroud and risers.
3
Hold the GPU card by its edges and slide out the GPU card at an angle to release it from the connector on the riser card.
4
Disconnect the cable from the GPU card.
5
If you are removing the card permanently:
a Install a metal filler bracket over the empty slot opening, and close the expansion card latch and PCIe card holder latches.
b Install a plastic filler bracket on the GPU air shroud to maintain proper air flow.
NOTE:
You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion card slot to maintain Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper
cooling and airflow inside the system. The filler bracket is necessary to maintain proper thermal conditions.
Next steps
Install the GPU card.
