Removing the optical drive

Prerequisites

1. Follow the procedure in

About this task

The following images indicate the location of the optical drive and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Steps

1. Disconnect the power and data cable from the optical drive.
2. Hold and push the securing tab to release the optical-drive carrier from the chassis.
3. Push to slide the optical-drive assembly out through the front of the computer.
4. Gently pull and disconnect the optical-drive bezel from the optical drive.

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.
