Dell EMC PowerEdge MX  

Networking Architecture Guide  
 

When selecting the 2xMX5108n Ethernet Switches in same chassis option in the 
SmartFabric wizard section of the GUI, it is important to note that the Virtual Link Trunk 
interconnect (VLTi) uses port 9, a 40GbE port, and port 10, a 100GbE port. The 
SmartFabric wizard then automatically configures a 1x40GbE breakout on port 10 so that 
the VLTi has two connections that are running at the same speed. The VLTi connections 
using ports 9 and 10 are shown in Figure 40.
