5: Maintenance
5-2
PRC1099A-MSOP
Cleaning
Clean equipment daily when in use, and weekly in standby condition.
1. Inspect the exterior of the transceiver. Make sure the exterior surfaces are
free of dirt, grease and fungus.
2. Remove dust and loose dirt with a clean, soft cloth.
3. Remove grease, fungus and ground-in dirt from the case using a cloth
dampened with trichlorethane.
CAUTION:
TRICHLORETHANE
fumes are toxic. Provide adequate
ventilation when using. Exposure to open flame converts
TRICHLORETHANE
to a highly toxic and dangerous gas.
4. Remove dust and dirt from plugs and receptacles.
5. Clean the panel and the control knobs using a soft clean cloth. If the dirt
is difficult to remove, dampen the cloth with mild detergent and water.
Visual
Inspection
Perform a visual inspection before the equipment is placed in operation,
during operation and after shutdown.
• Knobs and controls: Check for correct settings.
• Handset: Check by substitution.
• Antenna: Check for loose connection.
• Battery: Check by substitution.
