Overview
PVE400M is a portable wireless device and a location of a person wearing the camera is valuable
information for field operation. PVE400 can work in conjunction with GPS device and send location data
over wireless network. The VideoSpider monitoring/recording software integrated with the powerful
and free software from Google, called Google Earth, for interactive locating position of PVE400 on the
satellite images of working area.
Installation
1. Update PVE400M firmware to v1632 or higher.
2. Install
PVE400 Virtual Serial Port Dr
iver – pvevcp_setup.exe. See the User’s Guide for
configuration details.

VideoSpider
software b719 or higher.
Configuration
The
VideoSpider
software uses
Google Earth
API.
Google Earth
requires Internet connection for
downloading satellite images. If Internet connection is not available,
VideoSpider
will use
cached local data. Cache makes it possible to prepare data for area of interest while Internet is
available and then use it offline.
GPS receiver should provide data in NMEA183 format over standard RS232 interface.
The
VideoSpider
software uses the serial port for communication with GPS, to operate with
PVE400 –
Virtual Serial Port driver
should be installed and configured. From the
SpiderAdmin
program, locate Spider resource and select the
Location Service
line (
Figure 1)
.
Each camera (PVE400 equipped with GPS device) should be associated with a corresponding virtual port.
