6.4 Sensors (Input/Output)
Data about the own vessel position, course, speed and other vessel movement characteristics, as
well as the data about the surrounding conditions is received using special navigation devices such
as positioning systems, gyro devices, and other sensors. The data received from the input devices is
processed and presented in the ECDIS software. Data can also be transmitted to other devices such
as autopilot, ARPA display and others – output devices. For the data to be received and transmitted
by the ECDIS software, the input and output sensors must be connected to the system and be
registered in the ECDIS software.
6.4.1 Creating a new sensor
1. Go to Main Menu


Sensors : the Sensors panel opens.
2. Press the [New] button: the drop-down list of available sensors opens.
3. Select the sensor you want to create in the list. You are prompted for the MASTER
password. (use the SERVICE password)
