The MityCross 800 is designed to be used on bikes in some of the most
extreme outdoor conditions. Over time, dust and dirt may hinder the
connections on your battery and headlight. To prevent this from happening,
ensure that both the battery and headlight are clean after every ride.
Wipe the headlight and battery down with a damp cloth. Do not submerge
the battery or headlight in water. The DC jack grommet on the headlight
occasionally needs lubrication. We recommend using a bit of vaseline to
ensure easier connection between the plug and headlight. Remove all dirt
around or on the plugs or jacks on both the battery and headlight.
The High-Brightness LEDs have extensive life so bulb replacement is not
required.

Q: When should I charge my battery?
· The battery can be charged any time, but we recommend fully charging the battery
every time you charge it.
Q: Can I leave my battery on the charger for extended periods of time?
· The Smart Rapid charger prevents damage from overcharging but, like all electrical
appliances, we recommend unplugging the battery and charger once the battery is
fully charged.
Q: How do I know the charger is charging?
· When the Smart Rapid charger system is plugged into the wall outlet and connected to
the battery, the LED charging indicator on the charger will be RED, indicating it is in
Rapid charge mode. If the LED shows GREEN, the charger is in trickle mode and the
battery is fully charged.
Q: Will chargers for my other Cygolite systems recharge the MityCross 800 battery ?
· Yes, the chargers for any of the other MityCross models and the Explorer 650
will charge the MityCross 800 correctly.
Q: Can I use non-Cygolite parts for this unit?
· No, Cygolite parts are manufactured to specific quality specifications. Use of non-
Cygolite parts will void the warranty and may cause damage to the light.
QUESTIONS ABOUT CUSTOMIZING LIGHT SETTINGS
Q: What if I messed up my settings what should I do?
· You can get back into program mode and reprogram each programmable setting or you
can restore the light back to the factory default settings.
(see Restore factory default settings)
Q: How do I know I am in programming mode?
· The light will automatically scroll between the 4 programmable settings every 5
seconds, and the 3 LED indicators will illuminate to show which programmable

Q: How do I know which programmable setting I am in?

Q: What happens if I am in programming mode and I don’t change any of the settings?
· The light will retain the original settings.
Q: When in programming mode, I am holding down the button but the brightness (or flash

· The light reached the maximum or minumum endpoint. Simply release the button then
press and hold the button again, and the light will increase or decrease in brightness
(or flash speed) in the opposite direction.
Q: How do I know the light saved my programmed setting?
· If you set your preferred brightess level, did not press the button for 5 seconds, and the
light switched to the next programmable setting then the light saved that setting.
Q: What if I only program 1 of the programmable settings but not the others?
· The light will use the setting you chose for the that setting then use the original
settings for the other settings you did not program.
Q: While programming, if I skipped a programmable setting, how can I program the setting I
missed?
· During programmable mode the light will cycle through the programmable settings if
you don’t press the button, simply wait for the light to cycle back to the setting you
skipped, then program it.

Q: Are there a number of times I can change my programmable settings?
· You can change your programmable modes as many times as you wish.
