2.7 Installing Storage Drives
2.7.1 Installing a Hard Disk Drive
The system supports one UltraATA100/66 IDE or one Serial ATA hard disk drive.
Configure your hard disk drive as Master device before installing it
in the storage drive assembly. Refer to the HDD documentation on
how to set the drive as a Master device.
To install an IDE hard disk drive:
1. Lay the storage drive assemble on
its top on a flat surface.
2. Insert an IDE hard disk drive to the
drive bay, until their screw holes
align.
3. Secure the hard disk drive with two
screws on both sides of the bay.
You may re-install the storage drive assembly if you do not intend
to install a new optical drive or upgrade a pre-installed one. Refer to
the next section on how to install an optical drive.
4.
Connect one end of the 40-pin IDE cable
to the IDE connector at the back of the
drive.
5. Connect the other end of the IDE cable
to the PRI_SIDE connector on the
motherboard.
6. Connect a 4-pin power plug from the power supply unit to the power connector at
the back of the drive.
