Important Safe Operation Practices
WARNING
This symbol points out important safety
instructions which, if not followed, could
endanger the personal safety and/or property
of yourself and others. Read and follow all
instructions in this manual before attempting
to operate this machine. Failure to comply with
these instructions may result in personal injury.
When you see this symbol,
HEED ITS WARNING!
1.
Observe work area conditions. Do not use
machines or power tools in damp or wet
locations. Do not expose to rain. Keep work
area lit. Do not use electrically powered
tools in the presence of flammable gas or
liquids.
2.
Keep children away. Children must never be
allowed in the work area. Do not let them
handle machines, tools or extension cords.
3.
Store idle equipment. When not in use, tools
must be stored in a dry location to inhibit
rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of
reach of children.
4.
Do not force equipment. The equipment will
work better and more safely at the intended
rate. Do not use inappropriate attachments
in an attempt to exceed the equipment’s
capacity.
5.
Use the correct equipment for the job. Do
not attempt to force small equipment or
attachments to do the work of an industrial
tool. Do not use the equipment for a
purpose for which it was not intended.
6.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing
or jewelry as they can be caught on
moving parts. Protective, electrically non-
conductive clothes and non-skid shoes
are recommended when working. Wear
restrictive hair covering to contain long hair.
7.
Use eye and ear protection. Always wear
ANSI approved impact safety goggles.
Wear a full-face shield if you are producing
metal filings or wood chips. Wear an ANSI
approved dust mask or respirator when
working around metal, wood and chemical
dusts and mists.
8.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. Do not reach over or
across running equipment.
9.
Maintain equipment with care. Keep
tools sharp and clean for better and safer
performance. Follow instructions for
lubricating and changing accessories.
Inspect cords periodically and if damaged
have them repaired by an authorized service
technician. Handles must be kept clean, dry
and free from oil and grease at all times.
10.
Disconnect switch. Unplug the switch when
not in use.
11.
Remove adjusting keys and wrenches.
Check that keys and adjusting wrenches are
removed from the equipment and work area
before operating.
12.
Avoid unintentional starting. Be sure the
equipment is off when not in use.
13.
Stay alert. Watch what you are doing and
use common sense. Do not operate any
equipment when you are tired.
14.
Check for damaged parts. Before using any
tool, any part that appears damaged should
be carefully checked to determine that it
will operate and perform properly. Check
for alignment and binding of any moving
parts; any broken parts or mounting fixtures
and any other condition that may affect
proper operation. Any part that is damaged
should be properly repaired or replaced by a
qualified service technician. Do not use the
equipment if any switch does not turn ON or
OFF correctly.
15.
Replacement parts and/or accessories.
When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts
will void the warranty. Only use accessories
intended for use with this equipment.
Approved accessories are available from the
original manufacturer.
16.
Do not operate the equipment if under the
influence of drugs or alcohol. Read warning
labels on all prescriptions to determine if
your judgement or reflexes are impaired
while taking prescription. If there is any
doubt, do not use the equipment.
17.
Keep hands and body away from the
fairlead (cable intake slot) when operating.
18.
Secure the utility vehicle in position before
using the winch.
19.
Do not exceed the winch load weight
capacity. It will work better at the intended
load capacity. See the specifications in the
MotoAlliance winch manual.
20.
Be certain the winch is properly bolted to
a structure (or vehicle) that can hold the
winch load.
21.
Always use proper couplings when
connecting the winch cable hook to a load.
22.
Do not use inappropriate attachments to
extend the length of the winch cable.
23.
Never lift people or lift loads above people.
24.
Never come in between the winch and the
load when operating.
25.
Do not apply load to the winch when the
cable is fully extended. Keep at least four full
turns of cable on the reel.
26.
After moving an item with the winch, secure
the item. Do not rely on the winch to hold it
for an extended period of time.
27.
Examine the winch before using.
Components may be affected by exposure
to chemicals, salt and rust.
28.
Never operate winch if the cable shows any
signs of weakening, is knotted or kinked.
29.
Winch does not have a locking mechanism.
Secure load after moving.
30.
Do not cross over or under a cable under
load.
31.
Do not move a vehicle with the cable
extended and attached to a load to pull it.
The cable could snap.
32.
Use gloves while handling the cable.
33.
Apply blocks to the vehicle when parked on
an incline.
34.
Re-spool cable properly.
