Regardless of your operating conditions, the K-Series amplifier
only dissipates the same heat as two100-watt lightbulbs. This will
be hot to touch, but even in such extreme conditions, your
K-Se-
ries amplifier will not suffer any ill effects. That’s because the K-
Series amplifiers contain TLC (thermal level control) systems that
will begin to decrease the gain of the amplifier if the TLC indicators
illuminate and no steps are taken to reduce the input signal or
attempts made to improve air circulation. The amplifier will not
shut down, you’ll still be rockin’ with plenty of distortion-free
decibility!
If you can’t, or don’t want to change the preceding conditions,
two possible alternatives are available to add the necessary
air movement. First, you can add fans to direct air onto any
surface of the amplifier. Second, you can space the amplifiers
in the rack, allowing the top and bottom covers to act as radia-
tors. In extreme conditions, a combination of these two meth-
ods may be required, as would be expected for proper thermal
functioning of any amplifier.
