EASUREMENTS
Body water
The body of an adult person consists of 60 % water. As age increases
the water ratio falls by around 10 %. Men have a higher water per-
centage than women, as women have a higher percentage of body
fat. In general, athletes have 5 % more body water. The correct ratio
of water is essential for the complete metabolic process, for healthy
skin and to eliminate harmful substances (via sweat and urine).
A 5 % loss of water can reduce body energy by 20-30 %. Drink at
least 8 cups of liquid every day.
Normal percentage of body water:
Varying measuring result
The measuring results may vary slightly depending on a large number
of circumstances. Such factors are:
Measuring after having a meal or a drink
Measuring after taking a bath
Measuring during menstruation
Measuring after excessive exercise or sports
The following factors may lead to abnormal measuring results:
Osteoporosis
Dialysis treatment
Cardiovascular medicine
Dry skin under the feet
Intensive sports training of more than 10 hours per week and a
resting pulse rate of below 60/min
Under the age of 17
Achieving reliable measuring results
In order to achieve reliable measuring results over a longer period of
time, we strongly recommend creating reliable measuring conditions.
Best to take the measurements in the morning after getting up. This will
give you comparable results which can show you a tendency.
