1. Download the microSD card disk image to your computer:
Current OS release: OGM-4.1. Requires 8GB or larger microSD card.
Previous OS release: OGM-4.0. Requires 8GB or larger microSD card.
2. Download the flasher program to your computer: https://www.balena.io/etcher/
3. Power down the Organelle
4. Locate the thin slit in the rear of the enclosure (between the MIDI In port and the HDMI
Port.)
5. Use a pin or paperclip to press in on the black SD card to eject it and it will spring out
gently.
6. Insert microSD into your computer (you may need an adapter or card reader)
7. Use the Etcher program to burn the OS file on to the SD Card. When Etcher is finished
your computer may display a message similar to 'This disk is not readable.' This
message is normal and you may click 'Eject' to proceed.
8. Remove the microSD card from your computer and reinsert it in Organelle. Make sure
that the SD card is going into the socket on the circuit board, as it is easy to drop it into
the device. Holding the Organelle upside down helps the orient the SD card. If you can
wiggle it a lot, it probably is not in socket. Use the same pin/paperclip to press it in until
you hear/feel a 'click.'
9. Restart the Organelle. Check your OS version in Settings/Info.
7.2 Editing Patches Remotely
The Organelle OS includes a VNC server, allowing you to connect from another computer
and edit patches as if you had a monitor and keyboard plugged into the Organelle (screen
sharing).
To use this feature you have to first enable the VNC server on the Organelle. First make
sure you have WiFi enabled, either in AP mode or connected to another network. Then in
the WiFi Setup menu, select
Start VNC
. This will cause the Organelle menu to reload. If
you navigate to the Info screen in the Settings menu, it should report that the VNC server
is running.
