Operator's Manual

Technical Alarm Indicated

The following conditions are medium-priority technical alarms:

•

Preamp not connected: one or both preamplifiers are disconnected

•

Sensor not connected: one or more sensors are disconnected, or a reusable cable is disconnected

•

Poor signal: signal quality is too low for a reliable measurement; check sensor placement

•

Excessive light: an ambient light source is affecting the quality of the measurement; check sensor
placement, cover sensor if needed

•

Interference detected: an electromagnetic interference source such as an electrosurgical unit is affect-
ing the quality of the measurement; remove the interference or move the sensor

•

Replace sensor: both adult and infant/neonatal sensors are connected, or sensor is damaged or defec-
tive; make sure that only sensors appropriate for the patient are in use

•

Sensor unusable: the sensor has reached the end of its useful life (seen only on older monitors with
older preamplifiers; new monitors do not present this condition)

The following conditions are low-priority technical alarms:

•

Battery low: battery voltage is critically low, switch immediately to AC mains power to avoid an inter-
ruption in monitoring

•

USB storage error: there is no compatible USB storage device connected

•

Com port unavailable: the serial port device or its serial cable is disconnected

•

Printer unavailable: the printer or its serial cable is disconnected

•

Auto baseline set: 5 minutes of monitoring have elapsed without setting a baseline
