Designed to resist false activations in high airflow applications, the OEC-U-XXXX-AF is an
ultrasonic motion sensor with built-in timing and load control relay driving circuitry. The sensor
produces a low intensity, inaudible sound. It detects changes in the sound waves caused by
motion, such as walking into a room, raising a hand in class, turning in a swivel chair, etc.
Model OEC-U-XXXX-AF, with Airflow Tolerant Circuitry
(TM)
, reacts only to the portion of the fre-
quency spectrum which contains object motion while filtering the portion which relates to air
movement. When the sensor detects motion, the pre-set time delay period is started and the
blue wire is electronically connected to the red wire. This energizes the relay in the switchpack
which turns on the load. At the end of the pre-set time period, the blue wire is disconnected
from the red, causing the relay to open which turns off the load. The red lead is +15 VDC sup-
ply, the black lead is common and the blue is the relay control.
Product Mounting Location
Sensor:
Choose the sensor location carefully. The sensor must have a clear view of the area to be con-
trolled. It should not be blocked from “seeing” people by high partitions. The sensor will not “see”
through glass. Mounting height should be kept below 12 feet. Avoid pointing into hallways. To
prevent false activation, the sensor should be 4-6 feet mounted away from the path of strong air
turbulence. For indoor use only. For typical placement, refer to the Location Diagrams.
If partitions between 49” to 71” are present, see Coverage Diagrams. For greater partition
heights, each partitioned area should be treated as an individual space with floor to ceiling walls.
Additional Greengate sensors may be used to extend the coverage of the OEC-U-XXXX-AF.
Switchpack:
The switchpack is generally mounted above the ceiling on
the outside of the junction box that contains a hot line, neutral
and the existing switch leg from which the lighting is controlled.
If additional switchpacks are required, they are mounted on the
outside of the boxes containing the appropriate switch legs.
In installations where there are no existing switch legs, the
switchpack may be mounted on the outside of any conventional
standard junction box, with or without an extension ring.

CAUTION:
Before installing or performing any service on a Greengate system, the power MUST
be turned off at the branch circuit breaker. According to NEC 240-83(d), if the branch circuit
breaker is used as the main switch for a fluorescent lighting circuit, the circuit breaker should be
marked “SWD.”
NOTE REGARDING COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMPS:
The life of some compact fluorescent
lamps (CFLs) is shortened by frequent automatic or manual switching. Check with CFL and
ballast manufacturer to determine the effects of cycling.

Multiple Frequencies:
Large open areas can be divided into individually controlled spaces without gaps in coverage.
Each adjacent area can be independently controlled by using alternate frequency sensors.
Available frequencies are: 25 kHz and 27 kHz(Standard). Coverages vary. Please consult the
OEC-U tech sheet or consult with Greengate Technical Support.
NOTE:
Use Model OEC-U-0701-AF in areas from up to 700 square feet. See Coverage Diagrams. The OEC-U-0701-AF sensor is NOT designed
for corridor or warehouse applications. Refer to Greengate Tech Sheets for the appropriate Corridor/Warehouse sensor and for areas outside the
OEC-U-0701-AF coverage range.
NOTE:
Use Model OEC-U-1500-AF in areas from 700 to 1,500 square feet. See Coverage Diagrams. The OEC-U-1500-AF sensor is NOT
designed for corridor or warehouse applications. Refer to Greengate Tech Sheets for the appropriate Corridor/Warehouse sensor and for areas
outside the OEC-U-1500-AF coverage range.
