Start-up

• Open the “Battery compartment”(C2) at the rear of the housing and insert 3 x 1.5V batteries of

the type Baby (Type: C) observing the correct polarity (observe po and negative/-). All
display elements appear in the display briefly.

• Close the battery compartment.
• The radio symbol flashes „

“. This indicates that the clock is searching for the DCF signal.

During the DCF signal search, the keys on the device are locked.

When selecting the operation location of the wall clock make sure that it is placed far
from electric/electronic devices, cables, wall sockets or metal parts, if possible.
These may have a negative influence on the reception of the DCF signal.

• The wall clock can receive and evaluate the so-called DCF signal. This is a signal which is sent

by a transmitter in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt on the Main). Its range is up to 1,500 km and,
under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2,000 km. Among other information, the DCF sig-
nal includes the exact time (theoretical deviation is 1 second in one million years) and the date.
Of course, the complicated manual setting of summer and winter time is not required with the
reception of the DCF signal. However, the time can also be set manually.

With current summer time the display shows the lettering “DST” . DST means
“Daylight Saving Time” = summer time.
