Intended use
1.
This product is intended for installation in a PC-compatible computer and is used there for connection to the
IDE port of a motherboard. The product provides two SATA interfaces, allowing up to two SATA devices (such
as SATA hard disk and/or SATA-DVD drive) to be operated via the motherboard’s IDE port.
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can
cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them.
Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

When in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an EXPERT or a
specialist workshop and let them carry out the installation.
In case of improper installation, the product as well as your computer and all connected
devices will be damaged.
Lethal Danger!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed and all connected devices
and separate all devices from the mains voltage. Unplug the mains plug! To switch the
device off via the ON/OFF switch is not enough!
Open the housing of your computer and remove the cover carefully.

Connect up to two SATA devices using the converter’s SATA interfaces.
2.
If an optical drive does not function in MASTER mode, connect it to the SLAVE port.
Connect boot devices to the MASTER port only.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the MASTER/SLAVE configuration of the
SATA device.
Connect the converter’s bus bar to the power supply of the computer using the power adaptor cable.

Plug the converter’s IDE interface into the IDE port of the motherboard. Make sure that the orientation is

correct. The Pin 1 of the converter has to be plugged to the Pin 1 of the motherboard’s IDE port.
Then, close the housing of your computer.

Connect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage again and switch on all devices.

If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all settings and cable

connections.
Tips and hints
7.
Before using the connected hard disk/SSD, it has to be partitioned and formatted. Please observe the hard
•
disk/SSD manual for this. When using Windows XP/Vista, the partitioning and formatting can be done easily
via “Computer Administration” to be found in the Windows Control Panel.
For the operation of the converter no driver is necessary. The controller to which the converter and the SATA
•
device are connected only recognises a conventional IDE device.
Disposal

Electrical and electronic products do not belong in the household waste.
Dispose of the product according to the applicable statutory provisions at the end of its service
life.
