Journeyman Operator’s Manual
Your Journeyman is equipped with 4+ Wheel Brakes
The main pedal braking is done on all four wheels with a hydraulic brake
system which includes front wheel disc brakes and rear wheel drum brakes.
This system requires periodic inspection for brake pad wear, drum/rotor
wear and hydraulic fluid loss. Consult your Columbia Dealer or qualified
technician if excess wear or fluid loss is noted. Do not attempt to move the
vehicle.
The second braking system is an electronic motor brake the will activate
when the Journeyman comes to a complete stop, the key is turned off or
the batteries are below 24 volts.
Additional braking utilizes the Journeyman’s electric motor. It will limit your
top speed when going downhill by transferring some of the excess energy
back into the batteries. It will also engage to slow the vehicle if it starts to
roll away once stopped.
BATTERY PACK CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1.
While charging, batteries emit hydrogen which is an explosive gas. Keep the
vehicle in well ventilated areas while charging.
2.
Do not smoke or expose sparks or open flames near the vehicle.
3.
The electrolyte in the batteries is highly acidic and poisonous. Avoid contact
with skin, eyes, and clothing. Severe burning and scaring may result.
