5. Sequentially step up to the next larger ParaPostX Drill until the
preplanned diameter and depth are achieved (Fig. 11) .
6. Use a cylindrical diamond or carbide bur to prepare an
anti-rotational box (Fig. 12) .
7. Select the ParaPostXH post that corresponds to the last drill
used to prepare the post space. Insert post into post space
(Fig. 13) . Check for occlusal clearance. Remove post; if post
has to be shortened, make adjustments from apical end (Fig.
14) . Rechamfer the end of the post to its original shape.
8. To prepare for cementation, clean and rinse the canal (Fig.
15) and dry with Hygenic paper points. Use the dental cement
of your choice according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
9. Use a Lentulo spiral to coat the walls of the post space with
cement (Fig. 16) .
10. Coat the post shaft with cement and slowly insert the post
to full depth, allowing excess cement to vent (Fig. 17) .
11. If necessary, to obtain additional occlusal clearance fter the
cement has set, make any adjustments needed to the post
head while holding the post with a hemostat
(Fig. 18) .
12. After the cement has set, remove any excess before
completing the core and fabricating the final restoration
(Fig. 19) .
Cleaning and Sterilization
Drills: Prior to each use, remove debris ultrasonically or by
hand scrubbing with a brush; thoroughly rinse and dry. Place
drills, with a sterilization indicator, into an autoclave bag and
seal. Sterilize in autoclave at 132°C for 12 minutes. Sterilizing
bags should not touch the walls of the autoclave. Once the
sterilization monitor indicates that sterilization was achieved,
place autoclave bag, with the drills inside, in storage until ready
for use. To decontaminate, soak in a 70% isopropyl alcohol
solution for 10 minutes.
Posts: Prior to each use, place posts, with a sterilization indi-
cator, into an autoclave bag and seal. Sterilize in an autoclave
at 130 - 135 degrees C for 12-15 minutes, following standard
proctedures.
Universal Hand Driver: Prior to each use, remove debris
ultrasonically or by hand scrubbing with a brush. Sterilize by
autoclave or chemical vapor sterilization.
