Failing to inspect the brakes before
each use could be hazardous
Inspect brakes before each use
according to the Pre Ride inspec-
tion chart, make sure to follow
the maintenance schedule and
procedures.

1. Clean all dust and dirt away from brake
calipers and brake rotors. Avoid spray-
ing any cleaners directly into the caliper.
Some cleaners will damage the seals
which could cause a leak.
2. Check the thickness on the brake pad
abrasive material. The thickness should
be no less than .0626 inches (1.5mm).
3. Replace worn brake pads immediately.
Note: For brake pad replacement, contact
a service center.

Check the brake fluid level site gauges
(1) located on the front brake and rear
brake master cylinders. If fluid level
is below the halfway point in the site
gauges, inspect the brake hoses (2) for
leaks or cracks. If there are no leaks,
inspect the abrasive brake pads (3) for
excessive wear.
To add brake fluid, remove the lids (4) by
removing the 2 screws. Use only DOT3 or
DOT4 brake fluid. Note: Be careful not
to damage lid seals when adding brake
fluid.
