Installing the In-Sight PC Server Software
In-Sight includes a Server program (isserver.exe) that runs on a Windows NT, 95, or 98
computer and communicates with the processor over a serial connection. In-Sight also includes
complete on-line documentation distributed as an HtmlHelp file. Follow these steps to install
the PC Server and program documentation.
1. Shut down any applications that are running on your computer.
2. Insert the In-Sight installation CD-ROM into your computer’s CD-ROM drive.
3. Follow the setup dialogs as they appear on screen. The default installation directory is
C:\In-Sight. We recommend accepting the default.
4. When the installation program runs to successful completion, remove the CD-ROM from
the CD-ROM drive.
5. Test the on-line documentation by double-clicking the file C:\In-Sight\In-Sight.chm. If you
cannot open In-Sight.chm:
a. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer and check the version number. The on-line
documentation requires version 4.0 or higher. If necessary, update your system
with a current version.
b. If you still cannot open In-Sight.chm, run hhupd.exe, which is an update program
supplied on the In-Sight CD-ROM. Early versions of IE 4.0 cannot recognize
compiled HtmlHelp (.chm) files unless they are updated.
Notes:
You can obtain updated versions of the on-line documentation on the
Internet at
www.cognex.com
.
6. Open and read the relnotes.txt file, which contains up-to-date information about In-Sight.
