INSPECTING THE EQUIPMENT
Inspect the equipment according to your department's policy for
inspecting life safety equipment. The assembly should be in-
spected after each use by an inspector that meets your depart-
ment's training standard for inspection of life safety equipment.
Record the date of the inspection and the results in an appropri-
ate equipment log. Each user should be trained in equipment
inspection and should do a cursory inspection before each use.
When inspecting the equipment, check the webbing for cuts,
worn or frayed areas, broken fibers, soft or hard spots, discolora-
tion, or melted fibers. Check the stitching for pulled threads, abra-
sion, or breaks. Check the hardware for damage, sharp edges,
and improper operation. If any of the above are noted, or if the
equipment has been subjected to any form of abuse other than
normal use, or, if there is any doubt about the serviceability of
the equipment, remove the assembly from service and destroy it.
CARRYING, MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
During use, carrying, and storage keep the equipment away
from acids, alkalis, exhaust emissions, rust and strong chemicals.
Do not expose the equipment to flame or high temperatures.
Carry the equipment where it will be protected as system compo-
nents could melt or burn and fail if exposed to flame or high tem-
peratures.
If the web becomes soiled, it can be washed in cold water with
a mild detergent. CMC Rescue recommends the use of LifeLine
Cleaner. Dry out of direct sunlight. Do not dry in an automatic
dryer. Store in a cool, dry location.
The straps should be pulled snug and properly stowed when not
in use.
The Pelvic Harness is designed to work with the CMC Rescue
Patient Tie-in System to provide a fast and easy means of safely
securing a patient in a stretcher. When conducting vertical
stretcher evolutions, the Pelvic Harness will greatly reduce pa-
tient movement induced by gravity.
SET UP
Secure adjuster buckle assembly on the stretcher rail near the
patient's shoulder. The tail end of the yellow web strap should be
secured at the same location on the opposing side forming a "V".
USE
Position the Pelvic Harness on the patient’s waist. Run the leg
straps down between the legs then forward around the hips. Fas-
ten and adjust the harness. Connect the harness to the center of
the "V" with the locking carabiner. Adjust the yellow straps to
prevent patient movement while allowing for comfort. The set up
may vary depending on user preference and the style or con-
struction of the stretcher.
THE USER INSTRUCTIONS
NFPA Standard 1983 recommends separating the user instruc-
tions from the equipment and retaining them in a permanent re-
cord. The standard also recommends making a copy of the in-
