TROUBLESHOOTING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
TEST PROCEDURE 37 – Taillight Bulb Socket
See General Warning on page 10-1.
1.
Disconnect battery.
See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10, Page 10-2.
2.
Inspect wires at the light bulb socket. Make sure wires are securely fastened to the contacts inside the socket
3.
Inspect the socket housing to make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts or inside the housing.
4.
Inspect the light bulb and make sure there is no corrosion on the bulb contacts
5.
Connect battery.
See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10, Page 10-3.
TEST PROCEDURE 38 – Park Brake Limit Switch
See General Warning on page 10-1.
1.
Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10,
2.
Using a multimeter set to 200 ohms, place the probes onto the two terminal screws securing the brown and
red/white wires to the switch located at the top of brake pedal assembly
3.
With the brake pedal released, the multimeter should indicate continuity.
4.
With the brake pedal pressed, the multimeter should indicate no continuity.
5.
If the readings are incorrect, replace the limit switch.
6.
Connect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10, Page
TEST PROCEDURE 39 – Brake Pedal Limit Switch
See General Warning on page 10-1.
1.
Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10,
2.
Using a multimeter set to 200 ohms, and with alligator clips on the multimeter probes, place the probes onto
the two terminal screws securing the green/white and red/white wires to the limit switch located under the
floorboard
.
3.
Release the brake. The reading should show no continuity.
4.
Press the brake, making sure the park brake is engaged. The reading should show continuity.
5.
If the readings are incorrect, check continuity of the 16-gauge orange/white wire from the brake pedal switch to
the park brake switch. Check continuity of the 16-gauge green/white wire from the brake pedal switch to the
fuse block.
6.
If wire continuity is correct and the switch continuity readings are still incorrect, replace the switch.
Pedal Limit Switch Removal, Section 12, Page 12-40.
7.
Connect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10, Page
