VCA-4
Installation Guide
1 Introduction
The VCA-4 is an optional module that fits inside the CX-A200 and
provides two channels (1&2 or 3&4) with the facility to have remote
control of the level (using the RL-1 remote level control). The CX-
A200 will accommodate up to two VCA-4 modules internally. The unit
can control two channels independently or provide stereo attenuation
when wired appropriately.
2 Installation
Information
The VCA-4 comes supplied with two 40mm hex spacers and one 4-pin screw terminal plug.
The PCB mounted connectors that accommodate the VCA-4 can be found on the CX-A200
motherboard 25mm from the rear of the chassis, behind the input connectors. They are marked
on the PCB as:
•
‘CON1’ for channels 1&2
•
‘CON2’ for channels 3&4
3 Installation
Instructions
1. Turn the power off and remove the mains cable.
2. Remove the top panel
3. Select the required PCB mounted VCA connector (see notes above) and remove both
jumpers from it.
4. Remove the relevant blanking plate from the rear panel of the unit.
5. Adjacent to the VCA connector on the motherboard you will find two M3
×
6 fixing screws.
Remove and retain these screws then fix the two 40mm hex spacers in their place.
6. Push the 10-pin plug on to the VCA connector so the ribbon cable approaches the plug from
the rear of the amplifier (see diagram below) and check the connector mates to all 10 pins.
7. Position the 4-pin socket of the VCA module through the cut-outs in the rear panel and align
the two holes in the VCA module over the two 40mm hex spacers
8. Secure the VCA module to the hex spacers with the two M3 screws (removed earlier)
9. Replace the top panel.
