1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1.4 Dimensions and characteristics
Nameplate : Product reference
2. INSTALLATION
Important : When passing through the C-PASS box, participants will only be hooked by the sliding carriage, which is itself moving around the redundancy
cable, so the system is considered a lifeline anchor for a moment. Therefore, be sure to check the fixings, the condition of the straps and the strength of the
redundancy cable on a daily basis.
2.1 Fixing
-
With screws :
The box can be fixed with screws on an artificial support such as a wooden or metal pole, or a rock wall.
Use fixing screws that are in accordance with the material. Check the tensile strength.
-
With straps : A
= C-PASS bracket //
B
= Strap protection sleeve //
C
= Ratchet strap
For installation on trees, the strap solution is preferable.
Be sure to position the protective sleeves
B
correctly to avoid tearing the strap
C
in contact with the metal parts of the bracket.
Pre-tighten the straps during installation, as too much tension could deform the sheet metal bracket and prevent the C-PASS box from being attached.
The metal bracket must be installed horizontally to ensure proper return of the slider.
Position the strap ratchets out of reach of the users.
Secure the strap ratchets with nylon quick release clamps (rilsan, colson).
2.2 Installation of the box on the bracket
- Remove the front panel (4 screws)
- Hang the C-PASS unit by using the studs (
E
x2) in the keyholes
- Tilt the unit in the direction of the passage (see page 1), so that the slider falls back by gravity towards the entrance of the passage
- Tighten the screws (
F
x4) fixing the box to the metal support
- Check that the slider correclty returns, if necessary adjust the inclinaison of the box
- Replace the front panel (screw
D
x4)
2.3 Installation of the redundancy cable
The redundancy cable (
G
) passes through the frame tube, and ensures the safety of the user in case of a fall or if the attachments or straps are broken.
Use Ø10 to Ø12 cable and 4 cable clamps minimum to close the loop. Respect the EN15567 standards when making this buckle.
Adjust the length of the loop to limit the fall factor in case a box is torn off. However, do not stretch this cable too much as this could deform the frame and
prevent the slider from moving.
2.4 Adjusting the rings before/after each box
To prevent participants from bypassing the system, it is necessary to position the C-ZAM rings correctly near the box.
The ring preceding the box must be oriented with the magnet towards the beginning of the route, or the so-called «blocking» assembly. The ring placed behind
the box must be oriented with the magnet towards the end of the route, or the so-called «passing-through» assembly.
Respect the distance D1 according to the lanyard used (A4 or A6). If the distance is too short, it is possible to bypass the box by connecting to the slider at
the exit position, or to progress without activating the box; or even to be connected beyond the box. The lengths in this table are provided as an indication. It is
important to test on the installation the possible ways to bypass the box.
It is recommended to control the traffic on the platform with a net, to prevent bypassing from the back of the box.
When using lanyards of different lengths on the same course, the shortest lanyard must be used. In this case, the risk of bypassing the box is greater, and it is
essential to adjust the position of the C-ZAM rings precisely, and with the 2 models of lanyards.
Special situation: 2 consecutive C-PASS. If two ziplines follow each other, an OUT box will be followed by an IN box, in this case, the distance D1 must be res
-
pected between the two boxes.
You cannot install two boxes on the same tree. In this case, we recommend adding a workshop or a platform between two ziplines, to distance the boxes and
simplify the installation.
3. USE
In front of the IN box :
1. Clip a CLiC-iT connector on the C-ZAM ring of the slider, by pushing the detection flap.
2. Move towards the zipline. While holding the CLiC-iT connector, guide the slider through the C-PASS box. Bring the slider to the end of the rail, the slider stops
on a catch.
3. Clip the second connector on the C-ZAM ring of the zipline. Unhook the first connector from the slider.
4. Continue your progression on the route. At this point, the slider returns into the box, it is no longer accessible to the next participant, the indicator is red.
In front of the OUT box:
5. Same procedure, repeat steps 1 to 4. When the participant passes through, the OUT box sends an unlocking authorization signal to the IN box.
In front of the IN box :
6. The IN box unlocks automatically, the participant can proceed as in step 1
4. BRIEFING
In order to use the system smoothly and avoid queuing-up, we recommend a briefing phase, during which it is important to explain the following elements to the
participants:
- Explain the philosophy of the safety system, which allows only one person at a time on the zipline and the resulting safety for participants. It is the passage in
the OUT box that authorizes the automatic unlocking of the IN box. Therefore, people should not wait at the exit of the zipline and should pass through the OUT
box quickly to free the zipline.
- The colored light on the IN box informs you whether you can enter the zipline or not according to its color: green I can go, red I wait. When you pass through
the IN box, it locks and turns red. The red light is therefore displayed for the next participant.
- Depending on the platform installations, the box is not systematically facing you, so make sure you stand in front of the box. Warn the participants that they
might have to wait, and if possible indicate the average waiting time on the zipline.
- Demonstrate or have the participants handle the briefing replica to explain where to place the connector and what movements to perform.
- Explain the steps using the briefing board that will be available on the platform as a reminder.
