Use
Boiling Water and Automatic Switch-Off
1. Place the machine on a fl at surface.
2. Open the water boiler with the button on the lid. Then fi ll it
with clear water. You can read off the level on the internal
water level indicator. Fill only up to the maximum mark
(MAX).
3. Close the lid until it is heard to lock into place and is fi xed
fi rmly in position.
4. Place the kettle fl ush on the base.

Electrical connection
• Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to
use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be
found on the label on the base.
• Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230 V,
50 Hz safety socket.
6. Move the thermostat to MAX and turn the device on by the
switch on the handle. To control lamp lights up.
7. After boiling has fi nished the kettle switches off automatical-
ly, or you can push the switch upwards to interrupt or stop
the boiling process.
WARNING: Danger of scalding!
• When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed.
• During operation the housing becomes hot. Do not
touch it and allow the device to cool down before
storing it away.
8. Always pour water that is no longer required away immedia-
tely.
Heating Water
1. Place the machine on a fl at surface.
2. Follow the steps as described in the section „Boiling water
and automatic switch-off“ point 1-5.
3. Move the thermostat to a value between „MIN“ and „MAX“
and turn the device on with the switch. The control lamp
lights up.
4. The temperature has been reached when the control lamp
goes out.
5. If you would like to stop heating and remove some of the
water, turn the device off by the switch.
Switching off
• If you wish to switch the device off, turn the switch to 0 (off),
the thermostat to MIN and remove the plug from the socket.
The control lamp goes off.
• Emptying the water container.
Mains Cable Take-up Device
The mains cable can be wound up on the base.
Cleaning
• Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before
cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down.
• Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
• Never immerse the device or the base in water or other
liquids.
Water Container
• Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it
off with a cloth.
Exterior of the Housing
• Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.
Decalcifi cation
• The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the
hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is
used.
• If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably
needs to be decalcifi ed.
• Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available
decalcifi cation agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the
quantities stated in the instructions.
NOTE:
After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times
(approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do
not consume this water.
Troubleshooting
• It is not possible to switch the machine on.
Possible Cause:
After being used without or with too little water the machine
has not cooled down suffi ciently.
Remedy:
Allow the machine to cool down for 15 min.
• The machine switches off before the water has boiled.
Possible Cause:
The heated base is coated with too much lime or the circuit
of the plug is overloaded.
Remedy:
Descale the machine as instructed.
Check the mains connection.
• The machine does not switch off.
Possible Cause:
The lid is not closed.
Remedy:
Close the lid until it locks in place.
