1. Description
• External Cabinet with USB 3.0 connection.
• Install a hard disk (3.5
″
with an SATA connection) into
the enclosure and you have a portable device which
can be connected/moved between computers.
• Supports Plug-and-Play and Hot – Plug.
• Data transfer rate: up to 5 Gbps (USB 3.0)
and up to 480 Mbps (USB 2.0).
• Power supply via included mains adaptor.

4. Things to consider
• Never expose the product to moisture or humidity.
• A new hard drive should always be partitioned and
formatted correctly before use.
• Always save important data on several storage media.
• Never remove the enclosure when the hard disk is reading
or writing data, you might damage the hard disk.
• Do not expose the case to heat or direct sunlight.
• Do not place the enclosure close to strong magnetic fields
e.g. TVs, big loudspeakers, etc. Doing this can cause data
loss or the hard disk to stop functioning.
5. Inserting a Hard Disk (SATA)
1. Undo the two screws on the end with the on/off switch.
2. Carefully pull the end/circuit board out.
6. Installation using Windows XP
The following installation instructions apply for Windows XP
with Service Pack 2 or later installed.
1. The computer will locate the external enclosure
automatically; no extra drive routines are needed.
2. Once connected the new device will appear under
“My Computer
”
.
Note!
A new hard disk should always
be partitioned and formatted correctly before use.
The computer USB port must be type 3.0 in order
to be able to utilise the maximum data transfer rate.
7. Removing the enclosure
If you wish to remove the external case without turning off your
computer, click on the icon on your taskbar and select the device
to be removed and then click on
OK
before removing the cable.
8. Troubleshooting
Problem:
The computer cannot locate the USB hard disk.
Solution:
• Check: Is the hard disk partitioned and formatted?
• Make sure that the USB cable is correctly connected
to the computer.
• Check that the USB port works.

Connecting the hard disk (3.5
″
SATA):
3. Plug the hard disk into the SATA connection.
4. Screw the hard disk back into the enclosure.
5. Reinsert and screw the hard disk back in the enclosure.
Connection:
6. Connect the included USB lead between the enclosure
and a USB port on your computer.
7. Plug the mains adaptor into a wall socket and its
DC connector into the socket on the enclosure.
