Configuring the adaptor (Windows XP with service pack 2)
Follow these steps to install a new serial RS3 device to the computer
via the USB adaptor.
1. Shut off the RS3 device, connect the USB adaptor’s DB9M con-
tact to the serial port on the RS3 device, and turn on the RS3
device.
. Start the computer and connect the adaptor’s USB plug to a USB
port on the computer.
3. Install the RS3 device if this is a new installation or if the device
has not been installed on the computer before. Click on
Start/Set-
tings/Control panel and click on the current device, modem, sys-
tem, etc. Right click on the previously installed device and choose
Properties. The window for Properties opens.
4. Switch port to
USB, Serial Port (COM3) (or other COM-port num-
ber).
