Use
Charging by dynamo
• Fold out the crank and turn it at a steady rate. Do not turn the crank too slowly (poor charging) or
too fast (may damage the dynamo mechanism). About three turns a second is a suitable rate.
• After cranking the dynamo for one minute you can use the unit for about 20 minutes
(at normal volume/temperature). The LED torch can be used for about 25 minutes.
Charging with the USB lead
• Connect the USB lead supplied to the input of the device (15) and to the USB port of
a computer. The battery is fully charged after 6–8 hours.
• The unit can be used for 7–9 hours when the battery is fully charged
(at normal volume/temperature). The torch can be used for 4–6 hours.
Charging by solar cell
• The solar cell charges the battery if the unit is in direct sunlight or under a powerful lamp.
The amount of charge from the solar cell depends on the intensity of the sunlight or how
close the radio is to the lamp. The unit can be used for about 20–30 minutes after being
exposed to the sun for one hour. The torch can be used for about 25 minutes.
Charging external devices
• Connect the external device (e.g. a mobile phone) to the output (15).
• If you crank the dynamo at the rate stated above for three minutes, the mobile phone
receives a charge and can be used for a few minutes.
Setting the clock
The clock has 12-hour AM/PM display only.
1. Check that the ON/OFF switch on the underside of the unit is set to ON.
2. Press and hold [TIME SET].
3. Press repeatedly or hold down [HOUR] to set the hours.
4. Press repeatedly or hold down [MINUTE] to set the minutes.
Setting the alarm
1. Check that the ON/OFF switch on the underside of the unit is set to ON.
2. Press and hold [AL. SET].
3. Press repeatedly or hold down [HOUR] to set the hours.
4. Press repeatedly or hold down [MINUTE] to set the minutes.
5. Press [AL. ON/OFF] until an “alarm symbol” appears on the display.
6. To switch off the alarm, press [AL. ON/OFF].
7. To switch off the alarm completely, press [AL. ON/OFF] again.
