Recommended Memory Population Order
This section explains the recommended DIMM population order rules for the C240 M3 server.
■
All DIMMs must be DDR3 DIMMs.
■
Mixing of Registered and Unbuffered DIMMs is not allowed per platform.
■
Mixing of ECC and non-ECC DIMMs is not allowed per platform.
■
Mixing of DIMMs with different timing parameters within one channel is allowed.
■
A DDR3-1600 DIMM is allowed only when two DIMM s Per Channel (2DPC) are populated
■
When single and dual rank DIMMs are populated for 3DPC, always populate the dual-rank
DIMM in the blue DIMM slot first (blue slot) and the single-rank DIMM last in the black DIMM
slots.
Follow
Table 27
when populating DIMMs in the server.

NOTE:
Columns in yellow have DIMM configurations that do not support memory
mirroring. They do, however, offer superior performance. Columns highlighted in
green do support memory mirroring.
