PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
Customers are encouraged to migrate from Cisco Catalyst 4500 Prestandard PoE line card (WS-X4148-RJ45V) to the Cisco Catalyst 4500 IEEE
802.3af PoE line cards (WS-X4248-RJ45V or WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V).
WS-X4148-RJ45V only supports Cisco Prestandard devices, up to 6.3 Watts per port. The replacement line cards come in 2 favors, WS-X4248-
RJ45V (10/100 speed), and WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V (10/100/1000 speed). In addition to support for granular IEEE power classification and Cisco
Intelligent power management, the IEEE compliant cards (X4248-RJ45V and WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V) supports up to 15.4 Watts on every port
simultaneously. Moreover, the 10/100/1000 speed line card (WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V) supports TDR, which allows customers to remotely detect the
condition of an attached copper cable. Both replacement line cards (WS-X4248-RJ45V and WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V) support both the IEEE standard
and Cisco Prestandard Power over Ethernet.
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(18)EW customers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(25)EWA.
