Unpack the equipment and confirm that you have each part. Label the blue console cable
and set it aside in a safe place. You may need it in the future.
No devices except for the firewall should ever be connected directly to the ISP modem.
Placement
Firewalls and ISP modems should be placed in secure areas that don’t get a lot of traffic.
Attics, drop ceilings, and lockable closets are preferred. Avoid offices with easy access,
cabinets that restrict airflow, and environments outside of the firewall operational range.
You will also need to occasionally troubleshoot problems, so ensure that the ports and the
status lights are easy to access and view. Do not place the firewall near a lot of metal.
