Installation Guidelines
Because the access point is a radio device, it is susceptible to common causes of interference that can
reduce throughput and range. Follow these basic guidelines to ensure the best possible performance:

For information on planning and initially configuring your Cisco Mesh network, refer to the
Cisco
Wireless Mesh Access Points, Design and Deployment Guide.

Review the FCC guidelines for installing and operating outdoor wireless LAN devices at

Perform a site survey before beginning the installation.

Install the access point in an area where structures, trees, or hills do not obstruct radio signals to and
from the access point.

Note
Current safety certifications only include operation of this
outdoor equipment down to -40C.
Type 4, IP67
Defines the enclosure degree of protection (Type 4 = indoor or
outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against
windblown dust and rain, splashing water, hose-directed water, and
damage from external ice formation. IP67 = Dust tight (dust, dirt,
sand, and so forth) and protected against powerful water jets. Also,
the unit can be immersed in water up to 1m for short periods of time
(30min).
