PRODUCT MANUAL
10. Tools and Other Protocols
SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an Internet
-
standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks. It can be
found and enabled/disabled under the
IP
tab in the left toolbar.
UPnP
CIS devices support Universal Plug and Play architecture for transparent peer
-
to
-
peer network connectivity of network
-
enabled intelligent devices or appliances. UPnP allows a wide range of devices to seamlessly discover each other
’
s presence
on the network and establish communications.
UPnP may be appropriate for residential applications, but it can also increase traffic on the network and can add a security
vulnerability. CIS recommends UPnP remain disabled.
