Camera system setup – first steps
7.1 Installing the camera
1
Prepare the general setup:
Prepare the camera and lens
Select the correct lens and accessories to operate your camera in the desired
environment. (For more information about lens and tube selection, see section 11.2)
Install the lens and adapters correctly. For detailed description of the lens and mount
installation, see section 2.6.
2
Prepare the right cabling for your application
Camera Link cable: The allPIXA pro provides MDR connectors.
Check the plugs of your frame grabber to decide whether you need MDR-MDR or MDR-
SDR Camera Link cables.
Power supply: Hirose 6-pin plug (HR10A-7P-6S).
The allPIXA pro connecting interfaces are described in section 5.1.
Connect the camera to power supply (24 VDC +/- 10 %; 1A; typical 16 W) and your
frame grabber (section 5.6)
3
Install
the frame grabber on your PC by following the manufacturer’s description
Set the configuration of the frame grabber to adjust it to the configuration of the allPIXA
pro camera. For information about the Camera Link modes, see section 4.5.2.
4
Adjust the focusing point of your illumination unit and position it correctly
Refer to the manual of the illumination manufacturer for proper installation of the
illumination.
Make sure the illumination is correctly positioned to illuminate the scanning area.
5
Mechanically install the camera into your machine
Make sure, it is positioned correctly
The sensor line should be adjusted horizontally to the transport direction and the
camera should look perpendicular to the inspection area. For detailed description of a
correct camera installation, refer to chapter
Make sure, you have the correct object-to-sensor distance
The sensor line is positioned 16,5 mm (optical photosensitive surface) behind the front
surface of the allPIXA pro camera. You can find the detailed sensor position description
in section 2.4.
