C60 #tide
The sea has been an inspiration to horologists for millennia.
From John Harrison’s marine chronometers to the first dive watches
of the 1930s, reliable – and water-resistant – timing has always been
an indispensable part of marine life.
And few watches are more steeped with the spirit of the ocean than
your beautiful C60 #tide.
Not only is it a precision-engineered diving instrument that
will function at depths of up to 600m, but it also has a direct
relationship with the sea.
And one sea in particular.
Thailand’s Andaman Sea is home to the various sea-faring tribes,
including the nomadic Moken people. In the past, they were
fishermen. Today, because of overfishing, that’s no longer possible.
Instead, they ‘fish’ for plastic, which is converted into a robust
yarn or a mouldable material by #tide, a social enterprise. Your
C60 #tide carries the plastic in a ring of injection-moulded #tide
ocean material on the caseback (while the yarn is used in our #tide
straps). You’ll find a miniature tide mark on the crown too.
While your watch will no doubt receive its fair share of compliments
– you can thank us by email or telephone – the fact it’s helping the
indigenous people of the Andaman Sea will give you a glow every bit
as powerful as that found on its mesmerising luminescent dial.
