Check Carriage Rail Bearings and
Lubricate Upper Spreader Rail,
Carriage Rails and Rail Bearings
Required Tools
dry silicon lubricant, clean lint-free
cloth
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Check the carriage rail grooved bearings
by taking the prefeeder carriage assembly
(Figure 4-12, A) in hand and shaking it
from side to side.
It there is free-play in the carriage, adjust
the eccentric bearings. For more infor-
mation, refer to the REPAIR chapter,
Prefeed/Inlet Section
section,

Tension Adjustment procedure.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for other carriage
assembly.
Use a small amount of dry silicon lubricant
on a clean, dry, lint-free cloth and wipe the
upper spreader rails (Figure 4-11, B) after
each 50 hours of operation.
Do the same for each station carriage rail
(Figure 4-12, B).
Place a small amount of lubricant on the
cloth.
Wipe around the exposed outer portion of
the spreader rail grooved bearings (Figure
4-13).
Place a small amount of lubricant on the
cloth.
Work the carriage back and forth, lightly
holding the cloth so that the grooved
bearings (Figure 4-14) picks up the lu-
brication.
