Why do I have rust on my outdoor fireplace?
The temperatures produced by wood-burning, outdoor fireplaces can vary with the type and amount of combustible used. No
paint can resist the extreme heat potential of a wood fire. Damaging heat can cause painted surfaces to fade, peel and eventually
rust.
Rust is a natural occurrence when iron is exposed to air and moisture. Rust is a mellowing of steel due to outdoor exposure;
comparable to the patina effect of copper and bronze. High-temperature paint can be used as needed if the rustic appearance of
your outdoor fireplace is not desired.
Premium outdoor fireplaces that feature a higher-heat-resistant porcelain coating are still susceptible to rust spots on the screens.
Fine-mesh screens can not be porcelain coated and are protected with high-temperature rated paint.
If you notice any of these surface conditions before the outdoor fireplace is used, this is a manufacturing defect and is covered
under Char-Broil’s 90 day warranty policy and the component will be replaced free of charge. If these conditions appear after use,
this is a normal occurrence not covered under warranty.
