The battery installed in your boat by your Chaparral dealer supplies
your boat with DC current for lights, engine starting, and acces-
sories. When the engine is running, the alternator supplies the
power needed to keep the batteries charged. Lights and acces-
sories draw power from the batteries.
Battery Selector Switch
The battery selector panel is located in the locker storage of the 327
SSX. Leave switches on while motor is running or damage will
occur to alternator.
Your 327 SSX battery selector panel uses electrical solenoid type
battery switches. The switches to control the solenoids are located
on the cabin DC panel. To operate, press the switch, there are
three switches (port, stbd, house) while solenoid is moving the
switch will blink red, once active, the light stays on solid.
NOTE: If battery solenoid failes to operate, you have the option to
manually override the system. To manually override the system,
press in and turn the battery switches located in the ski locker stor-
age. Turn until you can read manual on. This will deactivate the
cabin panel switches. Your electrical system needs to be checked
by a qualified service technician.
1. All switches off
When boat is not in use or power is not required, turn all
swtiches to OFF. The only power supply at this setting is the auto-
matic bilge pumps, carbon monoxide detector, stereo memory,
mercathodes and high water alarm.
If one of your cranking batteries will not start the engine, there is an
Emergency start switch located at the dash. Press and hold, then
attempt to crank the engine.
Note: When recharging a low battery, be sure to run the engine
for a sufficient amount of time to fully recharge the battery.
Note: Chaparral does not recommend any other settings than
mentioned because of possible damage to batteries or engine
alternator.
