Introduction
Channel Vision has introduced the P-3036 on-
wall iPod dock. This dock provides full RS232
control of any iPod docked in the unit and will
also provide cover art images to the control
system.
All of this is achieved over a single Cat5 cable
between the wall dock and the receiver unit.
This cable also provides power to the dock and
iPod. Composite video can also be sent to the
receiver unit if an additional coaxial cable is
run.
Unlike other wall mounted iPod docks this unit will display cover art on the Control4 Now
Playing screens.
Extra Vegetables have worked closely with Channel Vision Technology during the
development of this product. This has ensured that the dock is fully compatible with
Control4. Installation and integration is simple and convenient.
As with all our drivers you only require one license per project – this will activate as
many docks as you have in your customer’s system.
How it Works
The integration is via a serial cable from the Control4 controller (or IO Extender) and the
wall mount receiver unit. This enables the Control4 system to control the docked iPod
and to receive meta data and cover art from the iPod.
Limitations
There are a few limitations you should be aware of regarding the integration:

Analog Audio Out
The receiver unit has analog audio out connectors. These need to be connected to
an amplifer in the system.

iPod Speed
As with all iPod docks the retrieval of cover art is not instant. You have the option
of disabling cover art display both in Composer and via the Control4 UIs.
Test before you install
The driver is very simple to install but we highly recommend that you test out the
integration in your office before installing on your customer’s site. We can provide you
with a one-off trial license for your test system. Simply email us with the MAC address
of your controller.
